The doors dinged me. I look like I have been attack by Edward Scissor Hands. When working on the doors I recommend that you put some tape on the door access portal. The edge of it is sharp and it appears that it won't be a problem, but it is like sticking your hand in a razor blade hole. Removing the black channel below doesn't seem to be a likely culprit of pain and agony, but it was. The rubber had grown very fond of its home and took me about an hour per door to get it removed. It broke into pieces and flew everywhere. Cost of this channel 41 cents per inch, need 109" per door. Seriously!?
How did you get the windows back in the doors?
ReplyDeleteThey come out of the top after you pull out wind wing. Kinda a pain.
DeleteYeah, it was. I'm worried about getting them back in. Do you have pointers?
ReplyDeleteThey come out the same way they go in. This was some of my advice posted to fordification.com for a full door rebuild:
Delete1. Full door rebuilds are not a quick fix and it is not cheap to do. Plan on $100 (plus) per door. Fix it while you are in there, you will not want to return to the pit of hell.
2. Be very patient, Things you think will be easy, ain't.
3. Do youself a favor and heavily tape the window access hole edge. It is sharp as a razor and I have scars to prove it. (pit of hell has teeth)
4. Mark your hinges before removal. (I did but panted over them) Drill a small hole for alinement.
5. Don't beat the door pins in with a hammer. (I did and that is why I am struggling.)
6. Find a door do buddy. It may cost you a few beers but the extra help is handy.
